SAMARATE (BNS): Italian aerospace firm AgustaWestland has received an order from Malta to supply an AW139 medium multi-role helicopter to its armed forces.
The contract includes an option for two more such choppers along with an integrated logistic support package and training of 10 pilots as well as 20 technicians.
While the first chopper will be delivered by June 2014, the company will complete the delivery of the other two aircraft in 2015.
The Armed Forces of Malta is acquiring the twin-engine AW139s to carry out maritime border patrol and SAR missions.
