Malaysia Airlines to buy 17 A330 aircraft from EADS

BLAGNAC, FRANCE (BNS): Malaysia Airlines will buy two A330-200F freighter aircraft in addition to its previously ordered 15 A330-300 passenger planes from European aviation company EADS.

The A330-200F freighter planes will operate in distances of around 6,000 kilometers while the passenger planes will fly across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.

EADS targets to begin delivery of the passenger aircraft in the first half of 2011 and transport planes by later that year, it said.

The Malaysia Airlines at present operates 14 A330s, which include 11 A330-300s and three long range A330-200 passenger aircraft. The airlines has also plans to acquire six A380 large passenger planes that will fly to longer destinations.
