NEW DELHI (PTI): There will be a large presence of Russian companies at the Defence exhibition beginning Monday, with that country's vice premier Sergey Sobyanin heading the delegation at the four-day event.
Considered to be the largest ever defence exposition in Asia, Defexpo-2010 will witness 31 Russian firms under the umbrella of Russian Technologies State Corporation showcasing their products range from navigation systems, low range reconnaissance radar, air defence and other missiles and weapons systems, according to Russian industry officials.
Among the six major Russian companies would be SC Russian Technologies, Rosoboronexport, OJSC "Concern PVO Almaz-Antey", Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering "Rubin", Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Splav" and KBP Instrument Design Bureau.
These companies will bring nearly 500 items including 26 natural models. They will also bring specialists in Russian air defence systems of middle and short range.
"Several contracts on acquisition of Russian armament and defence equipment are expected to be discussed during negotiations within the framework of the exhibition," officials said here.
Since the first Defexpo in 2000, Russian export agencies have been keen to demonstrate in New Delhi the most advanced products of national military-industrial complex, they added.
