MKU to unveil NICS, EO range at Defexpo 2016 in Goa


PANAJI (PTI): Military and armed forces equipment manufacturer MKU Private Ltd will unveil its sophisticated Network-centric Integrated Combat System for Soldiers (NICS) and new rage of Electro Optic (EO) devices which help soldiers at night, at the 'Defence Expo 2016'.

The four-day event is beginning March 28 at Goa.

"The NICS system is developed by MKU's team in India and Germany. At its core is the CIBA (Custom and Integrated Body Armour) system.

"It is an integrated body armour with a health monitoring system that not only provides the lightest protection but also enables the combatants to remain connected to their communication and information networks by integrating and connecting all his devices, including hand-held computers and displays, personal radios and battery packs," said Vaibhav Gupta, Director MKU.

"The CIBA is complemented by MUKUT helmet and MACS (multiple accessory connector system) with whose help the soldier can connect multiple devices like NVDs (Night Vision Devices), mic and headset, cameras and torches to the system and battery packs," Gupta said.

He said MKU is also introducing a completely new range of electro optic systems at Defexpo 2016, scheduled to be held in Quepem taluka in South Goa.

"These (EO systems) include various thermal imaging devices, night vision devices, laser range finder and day EO devices.

"MKU will also showcase a wide range of personal and platform armouring solutions that deploy the latest sixth generation armouring technology, including the MUKUT advanced combat helmets, its flagship helmet that has been tested by HP White Laboratories, USA to offer up to 40 per cent less blunt trauma compared to normal helmets," Gupta said.

Keeping in mind the special requirements of the Indian Forces for its upcoming vehicle programs, MKU will also display the development of solutions it has created for the land and airborne systems.

"MKU has provided protection to over 2,000 platforms and 1.5 million soldiers till date and continually strives to develop solutions and products that give an edge to combatants in challenging situations," Gupta added.
