CHANDIGARH (PTI): Lieutenant General NPS Hira, Commander of Vajra Corps, has been appointed as Chief of Staff Northern Command at Udhampur.
"On completion of his successful tenure as Vajra Corps Commander, Lt Gen NPS Hira is now moving to the prestigious appointment of Chief of Staff Northern Command at Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir," said an official release here on Wednesday.
Gen Hira made several contributions to enhance the operational readiness of Corps by transforming its 'Operational Plans', it said.
The 11 Corps has also been on forefront of flood relief efforts in Punjab, and rescue and rehabilitation of Kashmir flood victims last year, the release said.
General Hira also made contributions to operational and administrative preparedness of Vajra Corps during his tenure.
An an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla, Lt General Hira was commissioned in the Sikh Light Infantry Regiment on 16 December 1978, it said.
