NEW DELHI (PTI): Lt. Gen Anil Chauhan, who has vast experience in counter-insurgency operations, on Tuesday took charge as the new Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Indian Army.
He succeeds Lt General A K Bhatt who will assume charge of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps.
Lt Gen Chauhan has held several important posts in the Army and is known for his expertise in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast.
He was earlier commander of the Dimapur-based 3 Corps.
Lt Gen Chouhan had also served as military observer for UN peacekeeping mission in Angola.
As DGMO, Lt Gen Chouhan will oversee various operations of the Indian Army including along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
