NEW DELHI (PTI): Seeking to further strengthen military cooperation, Chief of Israeli land forces Maj Gen Guy Zur has met the top military leadership of India to discuss ways of enhancing defence cooperation.
The Israeli official also met Defence Minister A K Antony in New Delhi and held detailed parleys with his Indian counterpart Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh, Army officials said.
He also met Indian Air Force Chief NAK Browne and Navy Chief Admiral D K Joshi.
Zur is scheduled to visit the Agra-based Para brigade and the Paratroopers Training School there. He will then go to Jaipur and hold a meeting with South Western Army Commander Lt Gen Gyan Bhushan there, officials said.
He is also scheduled to visit Mumbai for his further engagements there.
India and Israel started developing close military ties in the early 90s and the West Asian country has become one of the largest suppliers of military hardware to India.
At any point of time, a large number of Indian military personnel and defence scientists are in Israel for training and joint development of military equipment.
