TEHRAN (BNS): Iran has equipped its military with a new domestically- produced air defence system.
The medium-range missile system, 'Mersad' (Ambush), has been delivered to the country's air defence units, the official IRNA news agency reported quoting a military official.
Iran announced development of the new anti-aircraft system in April 2010.
The weapon is capable of destroying advanced airplanes in low and medium altitudes.
It is equipped with different target tracing and tracking radars, soft and hardware networks, launch pads for Shahin missiles with a command and control centre.
