MUMBAI (PTI): Within six months of completion of a solo trip around the world, the Indian Navy's sail boat 'Mhadei' is once again ready to brave the winds.

INSV Mhadei, skippered by Commander Dilip Donde, will this time set sail for the Port of Cape Town in South Africa.

The sail boat will leave the shores of Goa tomorrow to reach Cape Town after nearly 50 days of nonstop sailing across the Indian Ocean, a defence release said.

Commander Donde, during this trip is accompanied by Lieutenant Commander Abhilash Tomy, Lieutenant Commander Khajuria and Pankaj Singh (Chief Petty Officer) who will be the crew during the voyage.

The sailing venture is aimed at participation in the 'Trans Atlantic Race' of sail boats commencing mid January next year from the Port of Cape Town.

The race of sail boats across South Atlantic Ocean will terminate at the Port of Rio De Janiero in Brazil.

Participation of an Indian team in such a race across the Atlantic Ocean is a maiden venture, the release said.

INSV Mhadei has recently been refitted at Goa on completion of solo circumnavigation trip undertaken by Commander Dilip Donde earlier this year.
