Indian Navy chief briefs Prime Minister

NEW DELHI (PTI): Navy Chief Admiral Robin Dhowan on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is understood to have briefed him on the operational preparedness of the force.

He also apprised the Prime Minister of the issues faced by the Navy.

The armed forces have already prepared briefings for the new government and the issues faced by them in terms of delays in the procurement of weapon systems.

Army Chief Gen. Bikram Singh had met the Prime Minister on Wednesday to brief him on the present security situation in the country.

The Prime Minister will hold a detailed meeting with the three Services at a later date where they would be making extensive presentations.

The Navy is facing the shortage of submarines and has lost one of them in a recent mishap in Mumbai where all 18 personnel on board were killed on INS Sindhurakshak.
