Indian Army chief reviews mounted cavalry parade


JAIPUR (PTI): Indian Army chief General Bikram Singh Sunday reviewed a spectacular Mounted parade organised by 61 cavalry here.

Apart from remarkable drills, skills of horsemanship and ceremonial regalia, the regiment mounted on 221 resplendently groomed horses displayed discipline and morale.

The regiment paraded in walk, trot and gallop, in formations of eight, four and twelve.

South Western Army Commander Lt. Gen. Gyan Bhushan and GOC 61 Sub Area Maj. Gen. K J S Thind preceded the Army Chief in taking the salute of the parade at the cavalry ground.

This was the first visit of Gen. Singh to the regiment since taking over, according to Defence Spokesperson S D Goswami.

61 Cavalry is the only mounted horse cavalry regiment of the Indian Army and has the distinction of being awarded one PadamShri and 10 Arjuna Awards for outstanding performance in the field of equestrain events.
