Indian Army Chief visits SW Command, meets troops


JAIPUR (PTI): Army Chief General Bikram Singh visited the South Western Command and was briefed about its various operational aspects, a defence spokesman has said.

Gen Singh also visited the 61 Cavalry unit of the Command on the occasion of its diamond jubilee celebrations and interacted with troops.

The COAS is the Colonel Commandant of 61 Cavalry -- the only Horsed Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army.

The Army Chief, who arrived here on Sunday, was briefed about various operational aspects pertaining to the Command by the South Western Army Commander Lt Gen Gyan Bhushan, spokesman S D Goswami said.

Singh's wife, who is President of the Central AWWA, interacted with families of the troops.

She was briefed about vocational training imparted to wives of the soldiers in tailoring, fashion designing, bag making, computers, soft toy making, embroidery and block painting.
