The Army Chief's visit comes at a time when bilateral cooperation between India and the US is at an all-time high.
NEW DELHI (BNS): At a time of heightened bilateral cooperation between New Delhi and Washington, Indian Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor is embarking on a six-day official visit to the US on June 20 to fortify strategic partnership between the two sides.
During his visit, General Kapoor is scheduled to meet senior military and civilian defence officials including Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Staff of US Army and Commander US CENTCOM amongst others, a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) here stated.
The Army chief will discuss key issues which would include Indo-US Defence cooperation, joint military exercises and training, defence exchanges and military equipment cooperation. Discussions on contemporary strategic issues like US Af-Pak policy and regional security situation will also feature in the agenda, the MoD said.
Besides, visits to important training institutions and operational headquarters have also been planned for the Army Chief to get a knowhow of the organization, doctrinal concepts and training facilities for operational deployment of US Army in a global framework.
