NEW DELHI (PTI): Indian Army Chief Gen V K Singh, who is retiring on Thursday, has met Defence Minister A K Antony and the two are understood to have discussed the functioning of the force.

The 15-minute meeting took place Monday on the sidelines of a conference to review the security scenario which was attended by heads of Air Force Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne and Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma.

A Defence Ministry spokesperson said it was a one-on-one meeting. Details of the meeting were not available.

The meeting came against the backdrop of the latest controversy involving the Army Chief as he has issued a show cause notice to 3 Corps Commander Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag, who can head the force in next two years.

After the show cause notice was issued to the officer and his promotion to the rank of Army Commander was put on hold, the Defence Ministry sought a detailed report from the Army on the issue.
