NASHIK (PTI): The Indian Army Aviation Corps on Friday celebrated completion of 25 years of its raising in the presence of Chief of Army Staff, General V K Singh at Gandhinagar base here.

Army aviation aircraft Dhruv, Chetak and Cheetah staged aerial demonstrations of their operating capabilities.

Apart from General Singh, Colonel Commandant Army Aviation, Lt Gen V K Ahluwalia and Additional Director General of the Army Aviation, Maj Gen P K Bharali too were present.

Army Aviation Corps was raised on November 1, 1986 as an independent aviation arm of the Indian Army.

General V K Singh later interacted with the reporters.

When asked about the reported delays in the procurement of equipment for the Corps, he said central government had been apprised of the requirements, but Army had no further control over the process.

Lt Gen V K Ahluwalia said efforts were on to replace the ageing aircraft by 2013.
