Indian Air Staff Chief calls on Sri Lankan President


Colombo (PTI): Indian Air Force Chief Marshal Arup Raha on Friday called on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and discussed bilateral defence cooperation, including the continuation of training and joint exercises.

Raha, who is on his first overseas tour since assuming office, also held a series of meetings with his counterpart Air Marshal K A Gunatilleke, defence ministry secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the Sri Lankan Navy and Army chiefs.

Sri Lankan President's office said that the Indian Air Chief's talks with Rajapaksa centred on defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and India including the continuation of training and joint exercises.

Raha arrived here on July 15.
