India to receive 512 CBU-105 weapons from US

LONDON (BNS): India will receive 512 CBU-105 sensor fuzed weapons (SFWs) from US Department of Defense (DoD) under the Foreign Military Sale (FMS) programme.

US DoD has awarded a $257.7 million contract to Textron Systems Corporation on Thursday for the delivery of SFWs.

Under the contract, India will receive 512 CBU-105s along with 44 training units.

In 2008, India had requested the sale of 510 sensor fused bombs, 19 CBU-105 integration test assets and associated equipment from US Defence and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

According to US DoD, the weapons will help India to enhance its defensive ability to counter ground-armored threats. The missiles will assist the IAF to develop and enhance standardisation and operational ability with the US.
