India, France Joint Naval Exercise

NEW DELHI (BNS): India will send some navy ships next month to the Atlantic to hold a joint naval exercise ‘Varuna -2009’ with France.

The joint exercise's aim is to develop command through such exercises. In collaboration with France India's six submarines are under construction.

India and France have in the past held a number of joint navy exercises in the Indian Ocean.
