COIMBATORE (PTI): ISRO said it was looking at participation of a consortium of industries in the space agency's plan to launch 12 to 18 rockets each year.
"ISRO wants the industries to come forward and develop the finished product from raw material to processing, integration, testing and launching of rocket from Sriharikota, in our plan to launch 12 to 18 rockets each year," said S Pandian, Director of Indian Space Research Organisation Propulsion complex at Mahendragiri near Kanyakumari.
Speaking at the seventh edition of three-day SUBCON-2018 organised by the district industries association on Wednesday, he said space technology has to be taken to the unreachable in terms of remote-sensing, education, tele-medicine, defence and communication.
Stating that the country is looking for transponders to cope with the demand, he said the number of TV channels on air was inadequate to meet the requirements of a family in modern times.
"The goal of ISRO is to reach out to the unreachable," Pandian said.
