NEW DELHI (PTI): The Indian Air Force has launched an indigenously developed Accident Probability Factor (APF) Calculator software to be used for predicting aircraft accidents.
"Towards achieving a safer flying environment, a software called Accident Probability Factor (APF) Calculator has been developed, which is only one of its kind and is used for prediction of Flying Accidents," the IAF said in a release here.
The APF Calculator, developed by the Directorate of Aerospace Safety, uses mathematical algorithms to analyse archived data of the last thirty years and predict accident probabilities, it said.
Officials said the software is of critical value for the IAF and the concept can be adopted for accident and disaster prevention also by other agencies in aviation business.
The software was developed under the leadership of Air Marshal A S Karnik, Director General (Inspection and Safety), who launched and dedicated the online APF Calculator to the IAF.
