IAF chief to visit Japan

NEW DELHI (PTI): Indian Air Force chief Arup Raha will leave on a four-day visit to Japan on Tuesday during which he will call on top Japanese political leadership and hold talks with his counterparts from Japan and other countries.

Raha will participate in the 60th anniversary celebration of Japanese Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF).

During his visit, he would meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Defence Minister Akinori Eto and Chief of Staff, JASDF, Gen Harukazu Saitoh.

He would be interacting with Air Chiefs of Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, United Kingdom and Commander PACAF of USA on the sidelines of a symposium to be held at the function.

Discussions would be held on "Future of Air Power and Science and Technology and Tasks of Future Air Force for Stabilisation of Asia Pacific Region".

Raha's visit to Japan comes after the recent tour by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India is looking forward to upgrade and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and contributing towards international peace keeping and peace building.

The Air Chief would visit the Hyakuri Air Base for an Air review and would visit the defence equipment display.
