MUNICH (BNS): German Air Force ‘Luftwaffe’ has received the 200th Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft from the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) at a ceremony held in Manching, near Munich.
The multi-role combat aircraft will serve on active duty with the Fighter Wing 73 "Steinhoff" of German Air Force based in north-eastern Germany.
Several European countries, including UK, Italy and Spain have deployed Eurofighter in their air forces.
The twin-engine multi-role combat aircraft is being jointly manufactured by a consortium of three independent European companies – Alenia Aeronautica, BAE Systems, and EADS.
The aircraft is one of the six contenders vying for a share in the over $10 billion medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) deal floated by the Indian Air Force to acquire 126 MRCAs.
