General Dynamics receives $23 mln US Air Force contract

FAIRFAX (BNS): General Dynamics has received $3 million (initial order) from US Air Force to support its F-22A Integrated Maintenance Information System (IMIS) programme.

Under the three-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, the amount of the order will exceed to a potential value of $23 million if all options are exercised.

In support of the Air Force Material Command, General Dynamics will purchase, deliver and integrate ruggedized laptops that will be used as Portable Maintenance Aids with F-22As.

"General Dynamics will ensure we meet the Air Force's strict requirements for preparing these ruggedized laptop computers for critical F-22A maintenance support," Kenneth Hess, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Information Technology's Air Force – Joint Systems sector, said.

The systems will be updated with required software, perform functionality tests and integrate required systems in support of the IMIS program.

The programme's objective is to improve the capabilities of aircraft maintenance organisations by providing technicians with a single information system for intermediate and organisational maintenance.

In addition, the company will maintain an inventory control database to track equipment shipping and returns and maintain detailed records, to include warranty information.
