General Dynamics receives $21 mln for RG-31 MRAP upgrades

LONDON (BNS): General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada has received a $21.2 million contract from the US Marine Corps Systems Command to upgrade and modify the kits of the RG-31 Mk5E vehicles.

These vehicles were earlier delivered to US Marine Corps Systems Command under the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle programme.

Under the contract, the upgraded kits will enhance the survivability and operationality of the RG-31 vehicles to the latest production configuration.

The delivery of the kits is expected to be completed by October 2011.

The contract was signed through the Canadian Commercial Corporation, a Crown Agency of the Canadian Government.
