NEW DELHI (PTI): Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor on Thursday met his US counterpart and other top raking military officers and discussed various issues including joint training and exercises between the two countries, Army officials said here.
Gen Kapoor, on a five day visit to the US, met US' Joint Chiefs of Staff committee Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen, US Army Chief General George W Casey Jr. and Central Command Chief General David H Petraeus in Washington.
During the meeting, the four-star ranked officers also discussed exchanges and military equipment cooperation in Indo-US defence cooperation and contemporary strategic issues like US' Af-Pak Policy and security situation in South Asian region," the officials said here.
General Kapoor was given a guard of honour at Whipple Field by the US Army and later on he also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
His visit to the US has come at a time when the relations between the two countries are on an upswing and both sides are developing a close strategic partnership.
During his visit Gen Kapoor will also be visiting important training institutions and operational headquarters of the US Army.
