GD to support repair work on US Navy carriers

GROTON (BNS): General Dynamics Electric Boat has received a $16.6 million contract from the US Navy to support repair work on two of its nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.

Electric Boat, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, will provide about 100 skilled trades workers to perform maintenance and repair work on USS Truman (CVN-75) and USS George W. Bush (CVN-77).

The contract will engage Electric Boat’s operations and support organisation in Groton, which comprises over 4,100 employees with proven skills and capabilities in final assembly, test and life-cycle support, the company said.
