BANGALORE (PTI): Two Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, one of the six planes in the fray for the IAF's 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft deal, arrived on Friday to take part in the Aero India show here, beginning February nine.

"The Typhoons from the Italian Air Force landed safely on Friday at Bangalore's Yelahanka air base for participation in the Aero India 2011 show," company officials said.

Eurofighter is one of the six fighter aircraft producing companies which have pitched in for the MMRCA deal, estimated to be worth a whopping USD 11 billion.

The IAF has already forwarded its report regarding the aircraft to the Defence Ministry after conducting flight trials of the six contending fighters including the Typhoons.

This is the first time that the Italian Air Force Typhoons have come to India. The aircraft will showcase its flying skills during the five-day long air show here.

Besides Eurofighter, other companies in the MMRCA deal are Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Dassault, Saab and the manufacturer of Russian MiG-35.

While Lockheed Martin has offered F-16- Block 60 fighter aircraft, Boeing is trying to sell its F/A 18 Super Hornets.

French fighter aircraft manufacturer Dassault has entered the competition with Rafale and Swedish Saab has offered Gripen fighters.

Aero India is a premier air show of Asia and over 650 Indian and foreign companies are participating in it.
