NEW DELHI (PTI): Brazilian plane maker Embraer rolled out its first of the three aircraft, equipped with indigenous Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems, which will be inducted into the IAF, the DRDO has said.
"The first of the three Embraers that we have ordered was rolled out Monday in Brazil and is integrated with the indigenous radar provided by us," DRDO spokesperson Ravi Gupta said.
The aircraft is likely to be brought to India in the middle of this year after going through a series of tests and certification process, to be conducted by Indian Air Force and Defence Research and Development Organisation, he said
"The aircraft has been slightly modified to house the AEW&C radar and other on board sensors. Since the platform is completely ready we will now conduct the series of required tests before it is handed over to the Air Force," he said.
The Embraer aircraft features an in-flight refuelling system, satellite communication capability and a set of aerodynamic and structural changes.
The advanced radar has been developed by the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS).
