Defence Minister visits BrahMos pavilion at DefExpo


Defence Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman being presented a memento by Dr. Sudhir K Mishra, CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace, during her visit to the BrahMos pavilion at DefExpo 2018.

THIRUVANTHAI, TN (BNS): Defence Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday visited BrahMos Aerospace pavilion at the ongoing DefExpo in Thiruvanthai and was briefed about the latest developments with regard to the Indo-Russian JV programme.

The Minister was shown various configurations of the universal BRAHMOS Weapon System being displayed at the mega exhibition and was apprised about the missile’s formidable capabilities by Dr Sudhir K Mishra, CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace.

Smt Sitharaman was accompanied by Dr S Christopher, Chairman DRDO and Secretary Department of Defence R&D, and Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister.

BrahMos Aerospace is displaying the Land-based, Ship-based and the recently tested advanced Air-launched BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile variants at DefExpo 2018.

The BrahMos JV has reflected the very spirit of “Make In India” by involving a large number of small, medium and large defence sector enterprises and successfully establishing a robust “Missile Industrial Complex” in the country.

MoUs worth Rs 1,53,000 crore signed at DefExpo 2022

As many as 451 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements worth Rs 1.53 lakh crore were signed during the Defence Expo or DefExpo 2022 at Gandhinagar, a senior official said. During the valedictory function of the 12th edition of DefExpo at the Mahatma Mandir convention centre, Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar informed the audience that it had broken previous records in terms of business generation.
