HYDERABAD: Shri Manohar Parrikar, Hon'ble Defence Minister of India visited BrahMos Integration Complex in Hyderabad on the 7th of February 2015.

The Minister was received by Shri Sudhir Mishra, CEO & MD and VAdm N N Kumar (Retd.) ED (Production), BrahMos Aerospace and was shown the state-of-the-art production facility in Hyderabad where the integration of the missile takes place.

During the visit, Sudhir Mishra apprised the Defence Minister about the production activities at BrahMos Integration Complex in Hyderabad. Shri Manohar Parrikar was also briefed about the indigenisation and remarkable technological achievements the Indian-Russian Joint Venture (JV) has made in the recent years.

Defence minister Manohar Parrikar, earlier while addressing a conference organised by the Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS) in Hyderabad, said that armament indigenisation is an initiative in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' policy. "We will have to indigenise armaments on a priority basis for sake of the country's security and will have to give priority to the defence sector," he added.

Sudhir Mishra remarked that BRAHMOS could be an ideal role model for 'Make in India' concept in defence. "BrahMos Aerospace has a very typical financial model. We have given the responsibility of design development to small and medium companies to come up with subsystems. We have given them funding as non-recurring expenditure. We have supported them even with raw material, preparation of designs and certification so that they can achieve manufacturing capability as well as sustainability," CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace said.

BrahMos Aerospace has been successfully delivering BRAHMOS weapon systems to the Indian Armed Forces since 2005.

The Indian-Russian Joint Venture have successfully developed various versions of BRAHMOS missile that can be launched from a ship, submarine and land. The 290-km range tactical missile is slated to be test-flown this year in its air-to-ground configuration.
