Chinese military delegation meets Eastern Army commander

PLA delegation talks with Indian officials

NEW DELHI (PTI): A Chinese delegation led by Tibet Military Regional Command Chief Lt Gen Shu Yutai met the Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen V K Singh at Kolkata to take forward bilateral relations between the two countries.

The two sides are expected to hold talks on various issues including the long-pending boundary issues and the future military exercises between the two armies.

The visit on Tuesday holds significance as before coming to India, the delegation had visited Nepal, where it met Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala and Defence Minister Vidya Bhandari on issues relating to border security, Tibetan activities and mutual cooperation between them.

Another delegation from the Chinese National Defence University also reached here to hold discussions with officials of Indian military training establishments.

Three different Chinese military delegations have visited India during December, including the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) deputy chief General Gezen-feng-led team, which held meetings with senior civilian and military leadership of the country last week.

These visits have come in the wake of reports of Chinese Army nibbling in Indian territory all along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
