BEIJING (PTI): In a rare move, the Chinese army has published its command structure governed by four general headquarters and departments, coinciding with its 87th anniversary.
The four departments included General Staff Headquarters, General Political Department, General Logistic Department and General Armaments Department.
The seven military area commands, including Chengdu, which is in-charge of India front along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), were pointed in a map in the website of state-run Global Times.
The other area commands are Lanzhou, Shenyang and Guangzhou, Nanjing, Jinnan and Beijing.
The map also includes location of its 47 army groups.
Though this structure is known, it is publicised on a map as part of efforts by People's Liberation Army (PLA) to open up and reveal its details to the public.
The Chinese military is headed by the Military Commission which is headed by President Xi Jinping.
The military functions under the overall command of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) and not the Chinese government.
