China's indigenous amphibious aircraft Seagull 300 takes to skies


BEIJING (BNS): China’s indigenously-built Seagull 300 multi-role amphibious aircraft has made its successful maiden flight on Wednesday.

The light-weight aircraft took to the skies in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, the state media reported.

The new aircraft, with both four and six-seat variants, is capable of landing on a range of surfaces including water, grass asphaltum and cement etc., the People's Daily said.

The Seagull 300 will be displayed at the 8th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition going be held in Zhuhai, Guangdong province from November 16. The aircraft will be open for private purchase at a price of 4 million yuan ($590,000), according to the China Daily.

The amphibious plane has been built by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).
