ISLAMABAD (PTI): The China-Pakistan joint military exercise YouYi-IV will provide an opportunity to troops of both countries to benefit from each other's experience in combating terror, a senior Pakistan Army official said Friday.
Addressing a function of the two-week-long exercise being held near Jhelum in Punjab province, the Inspector General Training and Evaluation, Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain, said China has always been Pakistan's close friend and armies of both countries maintain strong ties.
Lt Gen Zhao Jianzhong, deputy commander of China's People's Liberation Army, also attended the function and highlighted the "exemplary relations" between the two countries.
The joint exercise, which began on November 14, is aimed at enhancing the capability of both militaries to tackle terrorism and sharing information through an inclusive training programme in real time.
The drill will include collective training at the unit and brigade-level for low-intensity conflict operations.
The exercise will enhance the "battle competence of participating troops against intimidation operations".
