China launches remote sensing satellite


Yaogan VII satellite launch from the Jiuquan satellite launch center, Gansu.

JIUQUAN, GANSU (BNS): Yaogan VII, a remote sensing satellite was launched by China on Wednesday.

The satellite was launched on a Long March 2D carrier rocket from the Jiuquan satellite launch center in Gansu Province.

According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the satellite will be used for various scientific purposes including Earth resources survey, disaster monitoring and crop yield estimates.

The Yaogan VII satellite was successfully guided into the orbit fueled by hydrazine and nitrogen tetroxide.

The satellite was designed and developed by the Shaghai Academy of Space Flight Technology under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The first Yaogan satellite, Yaogan I, was launched in 2006. Yaogan VI was launched in April, 2009 from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, Shanxi. The Long March 2D is a Chinese orbital carrier rocket.
