ALEXANDRIA (BNS): Cambridge Communication Systems has received a $225 million contract for the design and deployment of maritime surveillance systems, to interface and support the Maritime Domain Awareness mission of the United States and its partner nations.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) has given the five year contract in support of the US Navy Programme Executive Office for command control, communications, computers and intelligence.

The first deliveries of the Cambridge MSS will be to the Philippine Armed Forces.

“We are eager to take on this responsibility and honored to have been selected to perform this important global mission,” Kimberly Harokopus, CEO of Cambridge, said.

Under the contract, the selected host nations will receive Maritime Surveillance Systems with situational awareness through sensor fusion, target detection, and classification capabilities.

The contract will also support a network of maritime surveillance stations, regional command centers for integration of MSS information into a common operating picture and training/exercise plans to support the induction of operations.
