CSL signs contract with SCI for constructing two vessels

KOCHI (PTI): The Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) has signed contracts for two 120-tonne Bollard pull Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels with the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI).

The contracts were signed at New Delhi on Wednesday, CSL said in a press release here. CSL Director (Technical) V Radhakrishnan and SCI Director (Technical & Offshore Services) A K Gupta signed the contracts.

The vessels are of AH03 design, designed by STX Europe and are classified under the Rules and Regulations of American Bureau of Shipping under Dual Class with the Indian Registrar of Shipping.

The 66 x 16 M vessel, powered by 2 x 4000 KW engines, is equipped with a 300 tonne Anchor Handling winch, Dynamic Positioning Grade 1, Fire Fighting Grade 1 and is capable of all normal offshore supply functions.

The vessel, which can accommodate 29 members, also meets the requirements of ERRV Group C (Emergency Rescue & Response Vessel), which will enable standby and rescue functions in case of an oil field exigency.

Upon delivery, the vessel will be registered at Mumbai.

The vessels will undergo Bollard pull testing at the 500-tonnes Bollard pull test facility established at Vizhinjam by CSL in cooperation with Kerala Ports Department.
