BrahMos Aerospace signs MoU with MAI and NPOM

MOSCOW (BNS): BrahMos Aerospace has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Russia’s Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) and NPO Mashinostroyeniya (NPOM) Corporation to establish a Centre of Excellence for High Speed Aerodynamics.

The MoU was inked in Moscow, Russia on 16th August, 2011 during the first day of the 10th International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS 2011.

BrahMos Aerospace CEO & MD Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, A.N. Geraschenko, Rector of MAI and Chief of NPOM Corporation Alexander Leonov signed the MoU that will pave the way for higher research and development in the sphere of high speed aerodynamics.

The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Mr. Andrei Fursenko was also present during the signing ceremony.

Hailing the deal, Dr. Pillai said, "It is a remarkable step for BrahMos, NPOM and MAI to come together and work in this field."

BrahMos Aerospace had earlier signed a similar MoU with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in New Delhi on 12th June, 2011, during an event to mark the 10th anniversary of first BRAHMOS launch.

The landmark agreement will bring together best scientific minds from India and Russia to study the hypersonic technology which will eventually pave way for the advanced BRAHMOS-II missile system.

The Moscow Aviation Institute (State Technical University) is one of the world-leading engineering universities dedicated to aerospace technologies.

Joint Stock Company “Military Industrial Consortium” “NPO Mashinostroyenia” (JSC “MIC” “NPOM”) is one of the leading aerospace enterprises in Russia.

BrahMos Aerospace, a Joint Venture company between India and Russia, is the producer of BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missiles.

On the occasion, the Russian version of "Technology Leadership" penned by Dr. A Sivathanu Pillai was released by Mr. Andrei Fursenko. The book addresses issues related to the establishment of missile weapons, the development of high technologies and their relevance to world progress.
