LONG BEACH (BNS): Boeing has received a $31 million follow-on contract to provide two more C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP) kits to the US Air Force.

The C-130 AMP improvements include a fully integrated, night-vision-goggle compatible, digital glass cockpit and new digital avionics that increase situational awareness and enhance safety for the transport aircraft.

The latest agreement, part of a low-rate initial production (LRIP) contract awarded to Boeing in 2010, also includes support for logistics, engineering and installation, as well as spares support equipment.

Air Force personnel at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Ga., will begin installing the new kits in mid-2012 with onsite support from Boeing, the company said.

Under the previous contract, Boeing upgraded three C-130 Hercules test aircraft which are getting ready to enter initial operation test and evaluation programme.
