Bilateral defence ties discussed at Pacific Army Chiefs meet

NEW DELHI (PTI): At the recently concluded sixth Pacific Army Chiefs' Conference in Tokyo, Army chief General Deepak Kapoor discussed various issues to enhance the regional security and bilateral defence relationship between the countries of the region, Army officials said on Thursday.

"During the various bilateral meetings with the participating military leaders from immediate, extended neighbourhood and other strategically important countries, the Army Chief discussed issues to enhance the bilateral defence relationship and regional security," they said.

PACC is a biennial conference of the Chiefs of Armies from Asia Pacific Region with an aim of fostering military-to-military cooperation, develop inter-personal relationships and contribute to regional dialogue and stability.

This year the theme of the conference was 'International Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA/DR) in natural and human-induced disasters.
