CHITTAGONG (BNS): The Bangladesh Navy has received the final two of its C13B (Type 056) class corvettes from China last month.
The two new warships, bearing pennant numbers F113 and F114, arrived at the Chittagong port on April 27, the Bangladesh ISPR said in a statement.
Each corvette, having a length of 90 meters and width of 11 meters, can carry modern artillery guns, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missiles in addition to sophisticated 3D raiders, fire control systems, radar jamming systems, and various types of combat equipment, the statement said.
The platforms, based on China's Type 056-class of stealth corvettes’ design, also feature helicopter landing deck.
Bangladesh Navy received the first two platforms of the class – ‘BNS Shadhinota’ (F111) and ‘BNS Prottoy’ (F112) – in 2015 under a deal signed with China.
China has also delivered two conventional attack submarines besides other equipment and military platforms to Bangladesh in recent times.
