DHAKA (PTI): Bangladesh on Wednesday appointed Lieutenant General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq as the new army chief.
"An order has been issued appointing him (Huq) as the new Chief of Army Staff," defence ministry spokesman Shaheenul Haq told PTI.
Huq is currently serving as the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces division under the Prime Minister's Office since 2013.
He will succeed General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, taking charge on June 25.
