Bangalore to host international space exhibition from Wednesday


BANGALORE (PTI): The second Bengaluru Space Expo, promoted as Asia's first focused exhibition on space, satellites and related technologies, takes off here Wednesday.

The four-day international exhibition and conference on space technologies, equipment and products is organised by CII in association with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences(MoES) with participation from BrahMos Aerospace and DRDO.

Over the last four decades, India has achieved notable progress in the design, development and operations of space systems, officials said.

The event will showcase latest technological advances, equipment, software solutions, related products and technical services in the areas and related sectors.

It will focus on solutions for disaster management, transport infrastructure guidance, space security, logistics management, tele-education, tele-medicine, agricultural guidance, identification of potential fishing zones and commercialisation of satellites, while projecting India as a launching pad for satellites of various countries.

A concurrent three-day international conference 'World Space-Biz' will also be held to deliberate on topics such as commercialisation of space, remote sensing and navigation, where speakers from global space agencies and industry will take part in several discussions.

Major exhibitors at the Expo include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Larsen & Toubro, EADS Astrium, Glonass-Russia, Dish TV, Godrej & Boyce, BrahMos Aerospace, MEASAT, SES World Skies, Asia Broadcast Satellite and Devas Media.

The highlights of the event include a visit by Nigeria's Minister of Science and Technology, overseas delegations, integration of technologies facilitated by the Indian space agency, products developed by units under MoES and providing a platform for SMEs for working with ISRO.
