NEW DELHI (BNS): The India-Russia Joint Venture BRAHMOS missile is the best example of technological co-operation which has become a marketing success leading to a 10 billion dollar business today, said former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam.
"The BRAHMOS missile system has been developed as a joint venture between India and Russia in the shortest possible time, leapfrogging all other countries in the world. It is going to remain a world class system in the coming years," he said while addressing the 19th Global Symposium on 'Festival of Thinkers & Doers.'
Hailing India's space prowess, the former President, who was the brain behind the country's Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) programme said, "India today can launch any kind of satellite and spacecraft. It is now preparing to launch the second lunar mission."
Dr. A S Pillai, CEO and MD BrahMos Aeropsace in his address during the event said, "As a great visionary and leader, Dr. Kalam made India a missile power."
"The SLV project was the forerunner of all space programmes of India. Dr Kalam propelled India to be a member of the Space Club by injecting Rohini satellite into Earth orbit," he added.
The three-day Symposium provided a platform for over 400 public and private sector executives and project managers in making their organizations more competitive in the global economy and effectively manage future projects.
Delegates and speakers from several countries also addressed the conference.
