NEW DELHI (PTI): Bharat Electronic Limited on Friday signed an MoU with French firm Sagem to explore the potential of working together in the production and supply of naval sensors and other equipment.
Under the MoU, the two sides will explore co-operation in the production and supply of navigational sensors like periscope, Inertial Navigational System and optronic mast to the Navy for its various platforms under consideration for future induction, a Defence Ministry release said.
The MoU was signed at the BEL stall here at the Defexpo by BEL Marketing Director PC Jain and Sagem CEO Bruno Eve, it said.
The Navy has ambitious plans of inducting ships and submarines into the service in the near future and these programmes have been approved by the government.
The MoU will help in understanding and absorbing the critical technology adopted in these sensors for use in future induction platforms of the Navy, it said.
The MoU will facilitate BEL and Sagem to work together for 24 months and if considered necessary, the same can be extended to a further period agreeable to both the companies, the release said.
