NEW DELHI (PTI): A Rs 9,200 crore order for supply of seven long range surface-to-air missile (LRSAM) systems has pushed the order book of state-run Bharat Electronics Ltd beyond Rs 50,000 crore for the first time in a single financial year, the company said Wednesday.
It said it has entered into a contract with Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) to supply LRSAM systems.
The LRSAM will be fitted onboard seven ships to be built by these two shipbuilders.
The Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a navratna defence public sector undertaking, said it is looking at maintaining a healthy order including for supply of sadars and electronic warfare systems.
"The company has entered into contracts worth about Rs 9,200 crore with Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) to supply LRSAM systems," it said.
"This is the highest-ever single value order bagged by BEL," it said.
The BEL was the lead integrator of Akash Missile system.
The company said it is now geared up for futuristic programmes such as the Quick Response Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) for the Army, Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) for the Air Force and Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) for the Navy.
