BANGALORE (BNS): BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (BATL) has recently acquired land to develop BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missiles.
An Express report quoting a senior official said, BATL has acquired the Air Force Complex land and Vishal Infrastructure Ltd will work on a war-footing on 20,000 sq ft of land that has been earmarked for the project, taken as part of BATL Phase-II expansion plans.
If everything goes as planned, a new BRAHMOS complex will be developed in Chakkai, near Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.
The report said a 'bhoomi puja' was conducted on Friday which was attended by A Sivathanu Pillai, BrahMos Aerospace CEO & MD, V G Sekhar, Director, ASL, Hyderabad, Vishnu Kartha, Executive Director, BATL, Rear Admiral (Retd) Mohapatra, Executive Director, BrahMos production, Hyderabad, and BATL Workmen Welfare Committee members.
The news report quoted sources as saying that within a year the building blocks for a new Missile Integration Complex (MIC) will be ready which will roll out the BRAHMOS missiles.
