LONDON (BNS): British defence major BAE Systems has received a contract worth $97 million to "reset" up to 146 Bradley fighting vehicles of the US Army.
Under the "reset" programme, the Bradley vehicles will be partially torn down, rebuilt and tested to restore and extend the life of the vehicles, the defence firm announced on October 12.
The contract was awarded by the US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command and work is expected to begin in October 2012 with final delivery expected in July 2014, the company said.
Initial teardown of vehicles will be performed at the Red River Army Depot in Texas, US.
Under the level-II vehicle reset programme, key components of the Bradley will be removed for reset, then returned to BAE Systems and the Red River Army Depot to be rebuilt and tested for performance.
