LONDON (BNS): BAE Systems has received a contract worth more than $20 million to supply two 57mm Mk 110 MOD 0 guns and engineering support to the US Navy and Coast Guard.
The naval gun systems will be delivered to the fifth National Security Cutter for the US Coast Guard and the US Navy's training facility in Dam Neck, Virginia where sailors will benefit from Mk 110 operations and maintenance training.
The 57mm Mk 110 gun system is capable of firing up to 220 rounds per minute at a distance of up to 10.5 miles. It is fully automatic and able to immediately switch between optimized ammunition types.
The two Mk 110 gun systems are scheduled for delivery by December 2014 and include additional engineering support options over the next three years.
