BAE Systems wins £2.5 bn Oman Hawk and Typhoon contract

LONDON (BNS): BAE Systems has signed a contract with the Sultanate of Oman for the supply of 12 Typhoon aircraft, associated support and eight Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) aircraft.

BAE Systems released a press statement confirming that the deal is worth some £2.5 billion and equips the Sultan's Armed Forces.

"We look forward to working in partnership with Oman's Ministry of Defence, and the Royal Air Force of Oman, to ensure this is a highly successful programme that maximises the potential of both Hawk and Typhoon," Guy Griffiths, Group Managing Director for BAE Systems' International business, was quoted as saying in the report.

Deliveries are expected to commence in 2017.
